LeonaLeona Louise Lewis (born 3 April 1985) is a British musician, singer, actress and activist. She was born and raised in London Borough of Islington and attended Croydon's BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. Lewis received national recognition by winning the third season of The X Factor in 2006 and was awarded a PS1 million recording contract together with Syco Music. Her winner's single, an original cover to Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment like This" which peaked at the top of the charts, reached #1 for four weeks on UK Singles Chart and broke an all-time record of 50,000 digital downloads within 30 minutes. Clive Davis's label J Records, signed Lewis to a contract for five albums in February 2007. The artist's popularity grew with the album release of her debut studio album, Spirit (2007), which received a platinum certification of 10x in the UK as well as becoming the fourth-highest-selling album of the 2000s , and also one of the best-selling albums in UK chart history. According to the Official Charts Company, Spirit is the highest-selling debut album of an artist of female origin in the 21st century. The top UK single, Bleeding Love, remained at no. #1 for seven weeks before becoming the best-selling album of 2007, as per the Official Charts Corporation. In the US, it was the highest-priced single of 2008 . Lewis was named Best New Artist by Billboard that same year. Her debut album was Echo in 2009 , and created "I Have You" as the film's main track. Lewis' song "Collide" is an impromptu collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii and she released Hurt the EP. It was her first play that was extended. Glassheart (2012) was Lewis the release of her 3rd studio album. It's an exciting and fresh style. Lewis draws inspiration from dubstep , as well as electronic music. The Glassheart Tour was in the middle of 2013 when she began to record material to record her first Christmas album. The Christmas album, with Love was released in late 2013. Its lead single, One More Sleep, was a top 3 hit within the UK. In the wake of this chart, Lewis made history as the only British female solo artist to reach the top five , with eight singles. This was more than Olivia Newton-John's record which was seven.
